Dear Parents

The Lord Lieutenant, James Saunders Watson

The Lord Lieutenant visited our whole school assembly this morning to celebrate our young poets from the ‘Poetry Together’ intergenerational project, which was organised in school by Mrs Coleman our Oracy leader. Our 2025 runner up was Annie in Year 5 and our 2024 runner up was Maggie and both received poetry books and recited their poem to all the children with beautiful clarity. He told us all about his important role as an ambassador for the King across the County of Northamptonshire. He then toured the school, met a lot of children and staff and enjoyed the children’s enthusiasm for learning and our wonderful learning environment indoors and outdoors.

Eco Council

Miss Williams writes that the Eco council have been out and about around the school, planting summer flowers this week. They have enjoyed learning all about types of bedding plants, how to feed the soil and how to plant safely. We hope you enjoy watching our flowers grow, as you walk around the school playground!

Water Safety Lessons

Mrs Range writes that this week, Year 5 took part in a valuable water safety lesson, learning important skills that could help keep them safe around water. The children practised how to float calmly on their backs to conserve energy and stay afloat while waiting for help. They also explored how everyday items, such as empty water bottles, can be used as flotation aids in an emergency. The session helped build confidence in the water while reinforcing key messages about staying safe and knowing what to do if they ever find themselves in difficulty.

Thank you and Best Wishes

We would like to thank Miss Valentine for her contributions to the Reception team and her Reading Cafés which many have enjoyed taking part in. She has always been a kind and caring teacher, and we wish her well for the future.

Once again, congratulations go to Mrs Troop who will be stepping into the role of Head teacher in January 2027 which we announced to the children this morning who spontaneously gave a huge round of applause.

Have a lovely weekend

Alison Harvey
